Ayurveda: Wisdom of Life

The ultimate self-care practices based on Ayurveda.

Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word meaning wisdom of life (Ayus=life Veda=wisdom).

Ayurveda is a holistic healing system that recognizes we are inextricably connected to nature.

When the principles of Ayurveda are applied according to your unique constitution,

they are intended to naturally bring about health and vitality.

Because we are intimately connected to Nature, we are affected by all of Nature’s elements.

Nature is the co-existence of equal and opposite values such as:

day/night, cold/hot, windy/calm, wet/dry.

To correct imbalances, gently use an opposite element.

Additionally, a daily Ayurvedic routine reduces the development of imbalances.

Health & Illness

Like a child asking for attention, the body gives signals.  We tend to put nagging symptoms off to deal with later or ignore them completely. This works until the body ‘makes’ us pay attention by giving up overt signs and symptoms that something in not quite right. Ayurveda says it is better to prevent disease through the application of daily self-care.

Ayurvedic Model of Health

Ayurveda addresses daily, seasonal, and life-span changes that affect our health and well-being.

Ayurveda recommends raising the level of well-being, so illness doesn’t have a chance to manifest by:

  • Following the Ayurvedic Daily Routine (Dinacharya)
  • Paying attention to subtle changes and addressing them early
  • Preparing for seasonal changes

Follow the daily routine outlined below for a week or two. Notice the subtle changes in well-being. Journal any improvement in how you feel. Get in touch to learn more about Ayurveda and your unique constitution.

"

This is must take course if you are on your journey to health and understanding of how the body's health & mind relate to nature and food. This course is full of nuggets of information. I have been on a health journey for several years and this validated what I am experiencing as I eat nutritious foods and re-connect to nature. This is the place to start because it will give you what you need to change certain habits and create new healthy daily routines. The right nutritious foods, in season, as nature intended, help create healthy and happy thoughts, as well as a healthy and happy you from the inside out.

"

My favourite part of the course has been learning about a different way of viewing health; Beth is able to draw connections between Ayurveda and Western medicine to put things in context for a Western audience. Her knowledge of both traditions was definitely beneficial.
